Juneteenth Sunday Worship

June 18 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm EDT

As part of our year-long 100th anniversary celebration of the church, we will gather on this day to commemorate Juneteenth and to recommit ourselves to being an anti-racism church.

Juneteenth marks the end of slavery in the United States and is the oldest-known celebration honoring the end of enslavement of people of African descent. While Juneteenth celebrates freedom, it also reminds us of the many ways in which the legacy of slavery still lives in our national life. We remember that many promises of freedom were not kept; that we have yet to live up to our ideals of liberty and justice for all.

Leading us in worship that day will be Jubilate, one of Florida’s premier performing arts organizations that is comprised of a vocal ensemble and orchestra committed to the music of the African Diaspora-Latin, and Caribbean culture, and traditional spirituals. Members of Jubilate include our very own Charmyn Kirton, J’Von Brown, Jasmine Williams, and Brandon Mowry.
