On this special PRIDE Sunday, the Chancel Choir will present Considering Matthew Shepherd, a choral work by Craig Hella Johnson, a Grammy-award conductor and composer. Matthew Shepard was a young, gay student at the University of Wyoming who was kidnapped, severely beaten, tied to a fence, and left to die in a lonely field under a blanket of stars. Five days later, when Matt passed away, the world was watching. On the eve of the 20th anniversary of Matthew’s passing, Craig Hella Johnson responded with this meaningful work, Considering Matthew Shepard.
