Food for the Soul on Micro-Lending

May 19 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm EDT

Helene Dudley is founder and President of TCP Global which creates zero-overhead, sustainable loan programs in marginalized communities. The program started with a Coral Gables Congregational Church grant 23 years ago. Through its grassroots partners, TCP Global supported 7,000 loans worth $1.7M in 2023.

Helene graduated from St. Louis University in Missouri and earned a graduate degree at FIU. She served in the Peace Corps in Colombia in the 60’s and Slovakia in the 90’s and is a past president of Returned Peace Corps Volunteers of South Florida as well as the Rotary Club of Coconut Grove. She received a Presidential Lifetime Service award in 2007, the Lillian Carter Award from President Jimmy Carter in 2013, and an Alumni Merit Award from St. Louis University in 2023, primarily for her micro-loan work with TCP Global. In “Immense Missed Opportunities – IMO” she shares what she learned through her work and what she believes are opportunities for significant, cost-effective improvements in equity and quality of life.
