What is your only comfort in life and in death?
An interesting question that begins our journey in a 450-year-old Catechism.
When we hear the word Catechism, what comes to mind?
- dusty old doctrinal questions and answers?
- something to memorize in order to get confirmed?
- a cut-and-dried out summary of what Christians ought to believe?
- written so long ago, so it probably doesn’t apply to our life today?
During the month of October, we will find that this 450-year-old confession is more than a teaching tool. It is a deeply personal statement of faith and is surprisingly contemporary in conversation with us today. Together, with M. Craig Barnes’ book Body & Soul: Reclaiming the Heidelberg Catechism, we will find answers to our questions and question some answers in our new and long held beliefs of our Christian faith.
