Sunday, February 22: Everything [in] Between: stranger & neighbor | Luke 10:25-37
In this familiar parable of the Good Samaritan, the question emerges, “Who is my neighbor?” and the answer is surprisingly, “the stranger.” In our world, many of our physical neighbors are strangers to us, and many of our neighbors—those closest to us—feel like strangers in divisive political climates. If we align our intentions and actions, then maybe we need to reconsider who we label as “stranger,” and ask ourselves if we have acted as good neighbors.
St. Augustine once wrote (paraphrasing): “We must empty ourselves of all that fills us so that we may be filled with what we are empty of.” Through our worship each week we will create space to pause, reflect, pray, and to exhale, while inhaling God’ word of hope and peace, and being fed through the gifts of bread and cup at all services.
