On this World Communion Sunday, we remember that we are part of the whole body of believers. Whether shared in a grand cathedral, a mud hut, outside on a hilltop, in a meetinghouse, or in a storefront, Christians celebrate the communion liturgy in as many ways as there are congregations.
As we eat the bread and drink the cup we know there are Christians around the globe doing the same. Communion becomes “community” as we gather, as the invitation says, “from the east and the west, from the north and the south, and gather at the table of the Lord.”
