The Social Justice Committee, like many of us, was moved by the news of the unaccompanied minors crossing the U.S. – Mexico border and how they were being treated and received by many unfriendly people. People have been asking, “Is there something that we could do?” It became obvious to us that the Church needs to be part of that conversation.
The United Church of Christ Immigration Task Force wrote in a response to the crisis:
As people of faith, we have an ethical obligation to care for the most vulnerable among us.
This new ministry is the result of ethical and faithful people wanting to care for “the vulnerable among us,” while responding to the wrongful and emotional statements made throughout the nation about this crisis.
